"Two Kinds" Jing-Mei's Shoes Paragraph

If any of my parents tried to make me become a prodigy, I would be mad. I would not try to be a prodigy in anything. I would hide from them, I would act like I’m really bad it, and do a bunch of stuff to not do it. I would sit and not move, I would not say a word, and I would make sure to be dirty whenever I was needed to be clean. I would make sure that my parents knew that I wouldn’t do anything so that they would just give up. If the pressure got to much to become a prodigy I think it would ruin my life, because I would get into the habit of not doing anything. I wouldn’t be able to get a job, or do anything that would require me to work because of that habit.

  1. Gosh. It sounds like that you would be so angry that you would do things that would negatively impact other areas of your life. Why wouldn't you just have a honest conversation with the adult?
