The story is “Two Kinds” one of the characters is Jing-mei, a character trait for Jing-mei is that she is defiant. Her mother wants her to become a prodigy and feels that she is a prodigy at the piano. Some of Jing-mei’s actions are that she argues a lot with her mother, and she cheats at playing the piano. Jing-mei is a little Chinese girl with a Peter Pan hair cut. Jing-mei thinks that her prodigy is being rebellious and that she is best at not listening to her mother, she feels like her mother wants her to be someone she is not. Some things that she tells her mother is really mean and hurtful, at one point she says “I wish I were dead! Like them!” Jing-mei is like any other little girl who has a parent that wants them to be great at what they want. She fights against it because that how she thinks she is gonna get what she wants.
Do you think it is normal for kids to want to rebel?
