“’Typhoid Fever’– Present Tense Childhood Memory

I was six talking a walk around the block, with my dad and my sister. It was night time and I am scared of the dark, I said to my dad that I wanted to go home he said that we could. I was super happy and was racing my sister back to my uncle’s house. When out of now where we hear a bunch of chirping, I didn’t know what made the sound, so I began to cry. I stood there while my sister ran back to my dad, I saw a bunch of little bugs jumping around and on me. I started to scream and my dad came running towards me. He lifted me off the ground and wiped all the little chirping bugs off of me. I was crying and hugged onto my dad, as he was patting my back and telling me it was all right that the little bugs where crickets. I looked back at the ground and saw my sister jumping on them, she was laughing so I wanted to try it too. My dad put me onto the ground and I jumped on one, I heard this loud crunch and I jumped back to my dad. He started to laugh at me as I stood there and saw the dead bug on the ground. The bugs jumped away and we continued our walk back home.
