Symbolism and Allegory Unit Reflection
Over the past two week me and my class study about symbolism and allegory. I learned about symbolism by reading a story and having to create a poster. The poster was on the story “The Grandfather” by Gary Soto. I learned about allegory by reading the story “The Skull and Arrow”. The assignment I had to do to that was write about if I was in the mans’ place. My favorite assignment was making the poster with my partner Pablo. The assignment that I lived for allegory was reading in “the cave”. I liked them because they were fun and creative. This lesson for this part of the year changed my mind that a lot of things in this world mean a lot more than they can seem.

“The Skull and the Arrow” In the Cave
If I was in his place and I was badly beaten I wouldn’t have went back. If they had beaten badly for only some others fight. I would have stayed in the cave until I was able to walk without feeling like it was time to quit. I would rest and heal when I could get up and walk better I would continue and get to freedom away from all the fights. When I was free and away form it all I would start a new life and not return to that place. I would let the past be my past.

Symbolism in “The Skull and the Arrow” Underdog Paragraph
Prompt A: Write a narrative paragraph about a time when you were an underdog. What happened? Write a little story with a beginning, middle and end.
A time that I was an underdog was when I was going to become a Freshman. All the teachers thought that I was going to be a bad kid, and fail their class, and be a demon. When I first came I thought that school was going to be hard, and that I didn’t want to be in their dumb classes. I was planning to be a bad kid and just get kicked out of my classes. Then I saw how nice the teachers were, and that I didn’t want to end up on the streets like other kids that graduated did. I got my act together and soon became some of my teachers best student! I then was no longer thought to be a bad kid, an underdog, I became a superstar.
