“Through the Tunnel” Prove Yourself Paragraph
When I first started high school as a freshman at San Pasqual Academy, all the teachers thought I was going to be a bad kids and be very disobedient. When my staff told me that is what the teachers thought of me, I decided that I need to change and prove myself to all the teachers. Someone of the things I had to do to prove to them that I was a good student was, I had to focus in class, complete all of my work. I had to not argue with other students and or the teachers, I had to be quiet and friendly to my classmates. Towards the middle of the school year, all of my teachers relaxed and finally thought 100% that I was indeed a good student. It felt great to be know as a good student and not as a destructive one, it felt like winning a war or growing up getting ready for a greater life. Now my feelings about the experience has not changed I am glad for what I did to change.

Symbolism and Allegory Unit Reflection
Over the past two week me and my class study about symbolism and allegory. I learned about symbolism by reading a story and having to create a poster. The poster was on the story “The Grandfather” by Gary Soto. I learned about allegory by reading the story “The Skull and Arrow”. The assignment I had to do to that was write about if I was in the mans’ place. My favorite assignment was making the poster with my partner Pablo. The assignment that I lived for allegory was reading in “the cave”. I liked them because they were fun and creative. This lesson for this part of the year changed my mind that a lot of things in this world mean a lot more than they can seem.

“The Grandfather” Three Meanings of the Tree Paragraph
In the story “The Grandfather” by Gary Soto the most symbolic item is the avocado tree. The tree represents three things the grandfather, the narrator, and the family. It represents the grandfather because the grandfather saw the tree as hope and cared for it. It represents the narrator because its the thing that his grandfather cherished the most and when it was the narrators turn to take over the tree, it became his hope. The tree represents the family because as each new family member came into the family the tree grew. A tree is like a family because families branch out, and because no matter what they are stuck to the tree. Also because they all support each other, through thick and thin.

“The Grandfather” Symbol of My Significant Person
My significant person is my father and a knight’s armor symbolizes him. Armor symbolizes him because armor protects the person who ever is behind it. My dad always has my back more than most people I know. They both grow old but stand strong, like my father having to face many people trying to pull me away from him. My father will always be there for me even after death just like the armor it will always protect the person who had its protection even if it breaks or is still standing after the person dies. If I was ever to tell my dad about this description he would cry most likely, but still be proud of me.

“The Grandfather” Important Person Paragraph
A person that means a great deal to me is my father. My father is a great man, but has his downfalls like the one which brought me into the system. He will always have to face challenges because of this and he will conquer them. He is important to me because he raised me to be a strong woman. He is the one who showed me how to stay focused and keep my act together. My current relationship with my father is that we are very close and yet the system can control how far we are apart. I love my father and I am proud to hold his last name “Corona”.
