"Two Kinds" Jing-Mei's Shoes Paragraph
If any of my parents tried to make me become a prodigy, I would be mad. I would not try to be a prodigy in anything. I would hide from them, I would act like I’m really bad it, and do a bunch of stuff to not do it. I would sit and not move, I would not say a word, and I would make sure to be dirty whenever I was needed to be clean. I would make sure that my parents knew that I wouldn’t do anything so that they would just give up. If the pressure got to much to become a prodigy I think it would ruin my life, because I would get into the habit of not doing anything. I wouldn’t be able to get a job, or do anything that would require me to work because of that habit.

"Two Kinds" Before You Read: Something You Don't Want to Do
I was currently living in girls one at San Pasqual Academy. It was a day after a huge fist fight with another girl. San Pasqual Academy had told me that I couldn’t go to school. The adults was expecting me to sit quietly in my house and do nothing. Knowing that I felt really mad at them, because I wanted to go to school. I knew that it was going to get really boring just sitting in my house. So I tried to talk them into letting me go to school, but they didn’t let me. In the end my staff talked me into just watching t.v. the office even let me use one of the gaming systems that they had locked up. They day went by fast, and when school was over I was allowed to go outside.

"Everyday Use" Before You Read: Tradition
Fifteen years from now on the fourth of July, I will sit be sitting on the roof of my house with my kids watching the fireworks. One of my happy memories of this tradition is when I was young and my dad let me climb onto the roof of my uncles house to see the fireworks better. He also came up to sit with me so I didn’t fall. I will share this with children because I think that they should feel what it felt like to be up on a roof watching bright lights flash in the sky. This is a tradition that I want to pass on because it bonded me to my father even more, and it was really interesting to watch the fireworks on the roof of a house.
